What are we talking about ?

Kinbaku is a Japanese art in which a person is tied up using ropes. Several definitions exist, each one matching the practice or the goals of their narrator. In Japan, there are many groups around rope art, having different aims and means, as in Europe. However highlighting the other’s body and unveiling their emotions are often commonly accepted goals. Kinbaku can be combined with dance, martial arts, massage techniques, diverse sexualities, tantric activities, initiatory times, hypnosis…

Shibari(Action to tied), Nawa shibari(Action to tied with ropes) are also use to describe Japanse Bondage.

Our dojo is working around Rope Art influence by Japanese technic, aesthetic and Concept. We consider our activity as an Art, a performing Art. Emotion, intimacies and connection between person as our main focus.

Yoroï-Ryu aim as define as the beginning 2012~

I support, through my school and my style, the idea that Kinbaku is a unique and self sufficient art. It can have a lot of applications but they are personal to each one. To my point of view, in order to improve yourself in Kinbaku, it is a good idea to work together following a commom line of study. There lies the origin of Yoroï Shibari Ryu ( Shibari school of the Yoroï style).
The relationship to yourself and to the other, as well as the work on artistic composition and creative process are the key point of the Kinbaku I support. Physical and emotionnal connection are the outcome of these components.
The Knbaku style I offer can be defined according to these few pillars :

  • Taï (Body work) : Posture, Presence, Letting go, Balance, Breathing
  • Gi (Technique) : Body handling, Movement (Rigger & Model), Rope Tension, Study and Variation of the basic patterns
  • Shin (Spirit) : Simple, Conceptual and Creative

My research is driven by refining.

My aim in life is to create a Kinbaku which would be a dance, at the crossroads of the other corporal arts I practice, Aïkido and Massage.
