Minimalist, Organic and Motion Based Kinbaku.

Since a little over two decades, I have been exploring the rope and mixed it with my other body’s practices : Aikido, thai massage, system A, contact improvisation… This research lead me to express myself in ropes based on a few, but essential and strong concepts. The aim is always to create a particular moment, one that is based on rope and where it is at the service of the session. This, generally, lead to a very fluid and organic moment.

I’d like to invite you in this way of tying :

The few essentials elements that we may explore : balance, breathing, posture, stability, body manipulation, time and space management, motion (for both side), rope and body tension as the main tool to tie, etc… Those elements will be presented for the person in ropes, as for the person tying. They will be presented through creative exercises and educational patterns.

A bit more :

  • Minimalism : How to reduce as minimun the rope technic to leave more space to; body skill, corporal consciousness and human vibration?
  • Organic : Our mind and our body is not square, but like nature; very fluid. We are going to work around a spiral and constent adaptation.
  • Motion : Focus will not be on the visual result, but rather the way to interact together and to manipulate/move the other, the rope and ourselves.

Workshops and exercises within are always different. There are meant for the people, the group and my rope partner. So based on the group, we may do suspension, half suspension, strict floor work… As our rope practice, I believe leading a group of study should be based on a fluid exchange.
